⚽️ Qualifying for the FIFA Men's World Cup (#FIFAWorldCupQatar2022) for Australia (#socceroos) has never been so easy.
⚽️ They played a three-round group tournament against teams from Asia, then had to play a playoff match against the United Arab Emirates. After the win they had to play another playoff match against Peru.
And finally got a chance to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
⚽️ Currently, 32 countries can participate in the World Cup, and there is no direct seat for OCEANIA, but a seat distributed between ASIA and SOUTH AMERICA. It is called 0.5 seat for Oceania, 4.5 for ASIA and 4.5 for South America.
(Anyway, as of the FIFA Men's World Cup 2026, OCEANIA can secure a permanent spot and keep Australia and other oceania countries out of those play offs because there will be 48 countries in FIFA MEN WORLD CUP from 2026.)
